The River Grill
The River Grill is a place where locals, second homeowners and visitors to this paradise, come to enjoy a casual fine dining experience or a cold beer, a glass of wine and some appetizers. The restaurant sits on the shores of the Truckee River, downstream from Fanny Bridge and Lake Tahoe's only water outlet.
There is bar seating as well as a large dining area with a wonderful rock fireplace. In the summer months, there is dining available on the outdoor rock patio. In any season, you can call to make a reservation or make one online. Happy hour goes all night long on Sunday and Mondays and from 5 to 6:30, Tuesday through Saturday. The menu is California cuisine at its finest, with seasonal menus, including steaks, chicken, seafood and appetizers. As the seasons change, so does the menu. Always ask about the special of the day.
Some of their appetizers include steamed mussels served in Thai curry sauce, Lobster Quesadillas, Sweet Potato Fries and Sliders. In the summer, try the peppered seared Ahi Tuna with citrus relish and half of a Spring Roll for an appetizer, followed by a Farmer's Market Salad with baby greens. For your main course, I suggest the grilled wild Salmon with rice and cucumber salad. In the winter, try the Surf and Turf; a nine ounce lobster tail with four ounces of filet, whipped potatoes and some grilled asparagus. At The River Grill you dine with good friends with a view of the river, seasoned and friendly staff, yummy wines and excellent food.
