Lanza’s has been open since 1974, when Joe Lanza opened the doors. For the best Italian food on the lake, located in Kings Beach, you must stop in.
Lanza’s takes no reservations and fills up quickly every night as it is such a popular spot. I suggest getting there early, it’s never too early to have dinner. The portions are large and their prices are quite reasonable. There is a park across the street, right on the water, a lovely place to go before or after dinner. All of their pasta dinners include a house green salad, with their famous home made salad dressing, hot bread and butter. For an extra dollar, why not have some crumbled gorgonzola cheese on your salad.
Lanza’s mixes old Tahoe, old world, with today, with the satisfaction of eating delicious and affordable Italian food. The wait staff is helpful and friendly, and the service is quick. Often I split a meal with a friend, or take some home as I fill up on the hot bread with butter melting as you take bite after bite.
The kitchen is always bustling, and the smells that permeate your nostrils when the doors swing open are a mixture of tomato sauce with the perfect amount of garlic. There are pizzas, and Eggplant Parmigiana, Chicken Parmigiana, Joe’s Vegetarian Casserole ( cooked noodles with ricotta and parmesan cheeses, zucchini, mushrooms, spinach and peppers, marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese ) and more. I am a huge fan of the Eggplant Parmigiana; it is my favorite dish there. You can not go wrong with any dinner you order at Lanza’s.
