Fire + Ice
Possibly conceived as the perfect family dining establishment, Fire + Ice does a great job of not disappointing anybody at your dinner table—whether vegan, pescetarian, gluten-free, or just plain omnivorous. While you’ll pay for it, this chain franchise has built a loyal following by taking the Mongolian grill experience and employing it to create a multi-ethnic dining restaurant that can be just about anything (except Indian food). Located right next to the Gondola at 4100 Lake Tahoe Blvd., Fire + Ice is the perfect après stop if you’re craving a broad international taste in a sanitized non-international environment.
Spanning Asian, Latin, American, and Italian cuisine styles--Fire + Ice is the ideal place to go when people in your group all want different things and can’t agree on a destination. In but one sitting, I was able to enjoy a delicious chicken fried rice, a delectable jerk-style pulled pork, a savory sirloin steak with broccoli, and an Italian pasta and meatball for dessert. This complexity is astonishing because you’re able to mix-and-match from dozens of meats, sauces, vegetables and grains, rendering your meals at Fire + Ice authentic--and in some cases difficult to replicate.
Along with anybody who’s young at heart, my favorite part of Fire + Ice is watching the chefs on the grill prepare the food. In spite of potentially dozens of customers waiting, the chefs featured on the grills execute their craft with attention to detail and an eye for every dish, meaning that you can count on well-prepared food.
This particular Fire + Ice location is made more special by the numerous fire-pits that sit outside overlooking the Gondola and Heavenly Mountain. Even if you’re not looking to have a full meal, this patio is an excellent place to have a drink, take a break from the hill, or use as a rendezvous with other family members.
Even if a little touristy, Fire + Ice delivers on quality and diversity when it comes to the dining experience on tap…
