Edgewood Tahoe Golf Club (18 holes par 72)
Edgewood is one of Tahoe's most challenging golf courses. It has hosted a small number of USGA events. It provides a better view of Lake Tahoe than any other golf course in the Tahoe area. Its long fairways are tightly bounded by either water or trees, and it has the cutest little sand traps. Several of the holes have three sand traps. The grass is very well groomed even under the trees, so don't expect to lose any balls that land in the trees. The course was designed by golf champion George Fazio who in his later years made a career out of designing some of the most spectacular golf courses in the world.
Edgewood Tahoe would like to be known as a great place for serious competitive golfer, but its biggest claim to fame is NBC's nationally televised American Century Celebrity Golf Championship. This event that involves over 80 celebrities from all walks of life has been hosted by Edgewood Tahoe since 1990. Celebrities compete for a top prize that is over $100,000 (US). You will find competitors like Rodger Clemens, of Boston Red Sox fame, Larry the Cable Guy and even former US Vice President, Dan Quayle. The American Century Celebrity Golf Championship is one of the biggest parties in golf with several rows of boats anchored along Edgewood's beach and party goers descending on the golf course from all directions after parking their cars at various parking garages throughout the region.
Edgewood Tahoe is a location so beautiful that weddings and many other social events are held there. The restaurant is reputed to serve the finest cuisine available in Tahoe to patrons ensconced beneath a towering vaulted ceiling and surrounded by windows looking out over Lake Tahoe. Edgewood is a public golf course open to anyone willing to pay its substantial fees. It is located within walking distance of its own beach and within a mile of the high rise casinos in Stateline NV.
