Dog Lovers Beaches & Parks (On and Off Leash Areas)

No votes yet

Coon Street Boat Launch and Dog Beach is one of only two off-leash public beaches on the north shore. Located on the east side of the boat launch ramp, the area is mostly rocky shoreline, and a grassy area beneath the trees.

Carnelian West Beach welcomes dogs who are kept on-leash. Located east of the Sierra Boat Company, this sweet little beach is great for short walks with Rover. A few picnic tables, a beach bar, and equipment rentals during the summer season make this a full-service beach stop!

Lake Forest Park boasts an off-leash area, west of the main beach. Here a large, open field, and some treed areas, combine with a large expanse of beach for dogs to romp and play. And that they do: this beach park is a favorite among locals, for its accessibility on foot (via bike/foot trails), as well as the playfulness of all the critters and their companions.

These three beachfront parks are open from 6 a.m. - 10 p.m., daily.

The Tahoe City Dog Park is open Thursday-Tuesday (Th, F, Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues) from Dawn to Dusk; on Wednesdays, from noon-dusk. This off-leashed, enclosed dog park is not on the beach, located on Grove St., behind the Fat Cat Deli and below Conners Field, in Tahoe City.
