Concerts at Commons Beach
If you happen to find yourself in Tahoe City on a summer’s Sunday afternoon, it would be well worth your while to stroll down to Commons Beach to hear some live free music. Concerts At Commons Beach is produced by the Tahoe City Downtown Association, and the Tahoe City Public Utility District, in partnership with Devil Dog Productions and 7th Wave Sound.
This is the largest free music series on the lake. The concert series runs for twelve weeks, starting around the end of June and running until Labor Day weekend. It is a family event; all ages are welcome and please be prepared to dance.
No pets, smoking or high back chairs. Picnics and beverages are encouraged. There are local vendors selling ice cream, salads, barbeque and more. Beer is available as well as wine and soft drinks. There are swings and slides for the children, and there are bathrooms on site. I always get there early to insure a spot up front, and to have a perfect view of the bands and of the majestic lake.
Commons Beach fills up when popular, well loved bands such as The Mother Hips, Joe Craven, Mumbo Gumbo, Samba Da, The Dead Winter Carpenters or the California Honeydrops are on stage. Happy concert goers with smiles on their faces. Old friends, new friends, and family, all gather to dance, visit and listen to some music down by the water’s edge.
