The Bridgetender also known as the BT opened in 1977 and was situated next to the Tahoe City Dam. After twenty five years of a very successful and well loved establishment, their lease was over. The tavern was torn down, and the new Bridgetender was built just yards away on the other side of the road.
Serving only lunch and dinner, in 2013, the Bridgetender decided to add breakfast to their menu Friday through Sunday. Dining is available inside all year round and patio dining overlooking the river is available in the summer months.
With fifteen beers on draught and some of the best burgers on the lake, the Bridgetender has a down home feeling with friendly staff and patrons. On their menu are garlic fries with olive oil and parmesan, waffle fries, chili cheese fries, beer battered mozzarella sticks, salads, ribs, tacos and more. Solid wood tables and bar, great food and drink, and a bunch of smiling faces, you really must stop in. A convenient stop if you are in Tahoe City or heading down the west shore, right by the Y, by the Dam Café and the River Grill.
