Beacon Bar & Grill on the Camp Richardson Beach at Lake Tahoe
One of Lake Tahoe's only full service beachside restaurants, the Beacon Bar and Grill combines large portions of hearty American fare with a great view of Lake Tahoe. Famous for its Deep Fried Calamari, Steamed Clams and giant half pound Beacon Burgers, the Beacon Bar and Grill also serves Filet Mignon, Chicken Marsala and fresh seafood specials each day. The Rum Runner a drink invented at the Beacon, is so famous that some locals go out of their way to drive to the Beacon for no other reason than to have a Rum Runner. The Beacon typically starts serving food in the late morning and continues serving until around 9 pm. The kitchen will sometimes remain open as late as 10 pm, but don't expect it.
The Beacon Bar and Grill has a choice location that is only 8 miles away from Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe's most photographed scenic area. There are no other restaurants between the Beacon Bar and Grill and Emerald Bay. It is only about a 15 minute drive without traffic. The Beacon is part of Historic Camp Richardson Resort that includes cabins, a hotel and campgrounds. The Beacon is on the beach next to the Camp Richardson Marina where both motor boats and non-motorized boats are available for rent. Walk down the beach, and you will find the Talac Historic Site, a group of three lakeside summer estates that were built in the early 1900s. In the beachside Beacon Beer Garden, throughout most of the summer, bands play every afternoon except on Monday and Tuesday, but don't expect raucous parties late at night. Being in close proximity to both a hotel and campground, the management will make sure the noise level is brought down to a very low level by 10 or 11 pm. One thing you will not find at the Beacon is the city. You have to drive more than a mile to find any commercial store or hotel that is not affiliated with Camp Richardson. The Beacon Bar and Grill is outside of town.
